Commander Pursey

asked the Minister of Health which hospitals in Hull should have physiotherapists on their staff; which have engaged them; what is the number of vacancies; and what steps he is taking to fill them.

Mr. Braine

Hull Royal Infirmary, Kingston General Hospital, Western General Hospital and the Victoria Hospital for Sick Children; all of them; the hospital management committee aims at recruiting nine more; in support of their efforts locally my right hon. Friend encourages recruitment generally by publicity and by financial assistance for physiotherapy students.

Commander Pursey

asked the Minister of Health whether he is aware that a Hull National Health Service patient recommended for physiotherapy in May and again in October has not yet received treatment, and 'has been informed that it will be a long time before she does so; and what steps he will take to ensure that physiotherapeutic treatment is obtainable in Hull without delay.

Mr. Braine

I am aware of the delay; some treatment has started and I am writing to the hon. and gallant Member; regarding the second part of the Question. I would refer to my reply to his further Question today.
