§ 67. Sir B. Jannerasked the Minister of Transport whether, in view of the damage by animals straying on the highway, he will introduce legislation to amend Section 131 (1) of the Highway Act, 1959, which provides for the imposition of a maximum fine of 5s. on the owners of such animals.
§ Mr. MarplesI assume that the hon. Member means Section 135. Amending legislation limited to this particular provision would not be justified, but I agree that the penalties are out of date, and a change will be considered when a suitable opportunity occurs.
