§ Sir K. JosephI regret that this information is not available. I can however tell my hon. Friend that in 1961–62 capital payments by local authorities for the provision of new houses and for the acquisition of land and existing buildings, conversions and improvements for housing purposes amounted to £9.3 million in the County of Durham and £5.1 million in the County of Northumberland. These figures represent 3.9 per cent. and 2.1 per cent., respectively, of the total for England and Wales.
