§ Mr. Jayasked the President of the Board of Trade whether he will make a statement on the conclusions reached in discussions between the Board of Trade and the Commission of the European Economic Community on the compatibility of United Kingdom distribution of industry policy with the Treaty of Rome and regulations of the Community.
§ Mr. ErrollAs my hon. Friend the Minister of State informed the Member for Aberdeen, South on 27th November, discussion on this subject took place earlier this year between members of the British negotiating Delegation and the Commission of the European Economic Community. In the light of these discussions the Government see no reason to suppose that measures taken under our distribution of industry policy would be regarded as incompatible with the Treaty of Rome or any relevant regulations.
