Mr. Farr

asked the Minister of Transport if he will utilise the quarries at Stoney Stanton for the purpose of dumping surplus soil during the construction of the portion of the M.1 between Crick and Markfield.

Mr. Marples

It is the responsibility of the contractors to remove surplus soil, and to provide tipping sites for it. My hon. Friend may wish to put his suggestion to Robert M. Douglas (Contractors) Ltd. who will be building the length of motorway nearest to these quarries.
