HC Deb 11 December 1962 vol 669 c35W
Mr. P. Williams

asked the Postmaster-General how much money has been spent on the installation of new telephones in the last 12 months in Northumberland and Durham; and what percentage this is of the national total.

Miss Pike

I am sorry that information is not available for the counties of Northumberland and Durham. In the telephone areas of Newcastle-upon-Tyne and Middlesbrough, £1£65 million was spent in the 12 months ended 31st October, 1962, on the provision of equipment in customers' premises and line plant from the local telephone exchange. This sum was 3.6 per cent. of the national total.
