Mr. Chapmanasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies which individual legislatures of the eight territories proposed for the new West Indies Federation have now approved the proposals of the recent Constitutional Conference; and if he will make a statement on progress towards the new Federation.
§ Mr. SandysThe Legislatures of Montserrat and of St. Kitts-Nevis-Anguilla have approved the proposals.
Meanwhile the Fiscal and Civil Service Commissions have been appointed and are at work. An economic survey has been started and a preparatory study for a possible customs union has also begun.
