HC Deb 11 December 1962 vol 669 c58W
Mr. Lagden

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer when he will review the duties on betting.

Mr. Maudling

I have asked the Commissioners of Customs and Excise to examine the practical issues that would arise if I should decide that it is, in principle, desirable to extend the scope of the existing duties on betting. The Commissioners will be approaching various bodies who are specially concerned and will be glad to discuss with them and receive their views, and those of any interested parties, upon the form that an extended duty may take.
