73. Commander Pursey

asked the Postmaster-General if he will state the number of extra male and female staff, respectively, to be taken on by his Department in Hull during the Christmas period; for what number of days they will be employed; and how many are to be taken from the unemployed.

Miss Pike

About 900 temporary staff in the City of Hull and about 100 in the remainder of the Head Postmaster's area. The work is suitable for men and women and preference will be given to suitable unemployed candidates. Employment will last for 8 days starting on 17th December.

784 men and 445 women in the City of Hull, and 86 men and 55 women in the remainder of the Head Postmaster's area. 47 men and 1 woman are from the disabled register.
