HC Deb 02 August 1962 vol 664 c142W
Sir D. Walker-Smith

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he will transmit to the Prime Minister, and through him to the people, of Trinidad and Tobago, a reassurance that, following on the grant of independence the United Kingdom will continue to take a warm and friendly interest in Trinidad and Tobago and to co-operate with them in every way appropriate to independent nations of the Commonwealth.

Mr. Sandys

I am glad to take this opportunity to confirm that Her Majesty's Government in the United Kingdom will continue to take a warm and friendly interest in Trinidad and Tobago after it becomes independent and to co-operate to the fullest possible extent with its Government and people.
