HC Deb 02 August 1962 vol 664 cc135-6W
77. Mr. Eden

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government and Minister for Welsh Affairs how many objections he has so far received to the proposed next stage of Bournemouth's development plan; in what way he will safeguard the owners of private property included within the proposals against the erosion of its value; and what action he now proposes to take.

Mr. Corfield

Just over 1,000 objections have been received; and my right hon. Friend proposes to hold a public local inquiry. If and in so far as the proposals are approved, owners of property which has to be acquired will be entitled to compensation based on market value. In certain circumstances owner-occupiers will be entitled to require the council to buy their proper- ties, once a decision affecting them has been given. I am writing to my hon. Friend in greater detail.
