§ Mr. ProfumoAs I indicated when presenting the Army Estimates on 8th March, the rôle of the Brigade of Gurkhas is now under active consideration. Meanwhile, I am proposing to recruit about 500 Gurkhas this year. If adjustments to the strength of the Brigade have ultimately to be made, any Gurkhas whose services have to be prematurely terminated will receive suitable compensation.
