63. Mr. Sydney Irving

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government and Minister for Welsh Affairs how many visits have been made during the last twelve months by members of the Alkali Inspectorate to Thames-side Cement Works.

Sixty-four visits have been made, including three visits by the Chief Inspector.

64. Mr. Sydney Irving

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government and Minister for Welsh Affairs what means members of the Alkali Inspectorate have for determining whether precipitators have been out of action at Thames-side Cement Works since their last visit.

The Inspectorate require works managements to record the operation of the precipitators at all times when kilns are in use. The records are examined by the Inspectors.
