HC Deb 11 April 1962 vol 657 cc140-1W
93. Mr. S. O. Davies

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how much warning he now estimates would be given in the event of a nuclear war so that the proposed evacuation of millions of people to the West and Wales could be effectively carried out.

Mr. R. A. Butler

No one can say how much time there might be in an emergency to carry out dispersal, but unless plans are made now it would not be possible to use the time available if it were thought right to carry out any such scheme.
