§ Mr. A. Evansasked the Minister of Transport if he will seek to amend the Removal of Vehicles (England and Wales) Regulations, 1961, to reduce the period of six weeks which elapses before a competent authority may dispose of a vehicle abandoned on the highway.
§ Mr. MarplesNo. Section 16 of the Road Traffic and Roads Improvement Act, 1960, which confers the power to authorise the competent authority to dispose of an abandoned vehicle, expressly provides that not less than six weeks shall be allowed to enable the vehicle to be claimed. I think that this is a reasonable provision.
