§ Mr. Clive Bossomasked the Minister of Transport what discussions he has had with local highway authorities regarding the appointment of highway and 94W traffic engineers in every large city in the United Kingdom to help work out the flow of traffic.
§ Mr. MarplesIn December, 1960, my Department sent to all local highway authorities a memorandum giving advice on the contribution which traffic engineering can make to the smooth flow of traffic and suggesting the need for them to have staff trained in traffic engineering. I have recently been reviewing the facilities available in the universities and technical colleges for training traffic engineers and I am proposing to have further discussions with the local authorities about their making the fullest use of these facilities.
