24. Mr. J. T. Priceasked the Minister of Pensions and National Insurance why the cost of the collection of the National Health Service contributions in 1961–62 is expected to rise from £850,000 to £1,583,000.
§ Mr. Boyd-CarpenterThe main reasons are the changes in the National Health Service contribution rates and in the accounting arrangements of the General Post Office as a result of which Post Office costs are met initially from my Department's vote, and not, as hitherto, directly from the proceeds of the contributions.
