§ 59. Dr. Dickson Mabonasked the Secretary of State for Scotland what are the latest estimates of the shortage of geriatric beds in each of the hospital regions.
§ Mr. MaclayThere is no generally accepted scale on which geriatric beds should be provided in the hospital service. I am aware, however, there is a need for considerable additional accommodation in four of the five regions. Three hundred additional beds were provided in 1960 and I know that the regional hospital boards have this problem very much in mind.
