ButlerThe sale and purchase of firearms other than airguns and shotguns are already strictly controlled under the Firearms Act, 1937, and, although I watch the situation, on my present information I have no reason to think that further safeguards are required in respect of these weapons. As regards airguns and shotguns, I would refer my hon. and gallant Friend to the statement made by my hon. and learned Friend the Joint Under-Secretary of State during the Second Reading of the Game Licences and Gun Licences (Miscellaneous Provisions) etc. Bill on 10th March.
