§ 20. Mr. Fletcherasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies why the Directors of Education and Medical Services in the Seychelles have been instructed to address minutes relating to their respective Departments to the Administrative Secretary; and why the Estimates of these Departments are described as being administered by the Administrative Secretary.
135W
§ Mr. H. FraserUnder the provisions of the Seychelles Legislative Council Order in Council, 1960, the Director of Medical Services and the Director of Education ceased to be members of the Legislative Council and the Administrative Secretary became an official member. As such he is responsible for dealing with medical and educational matters in the Legislative and Executive Councils. The instructions to which the hon. Member refers were no doubt made necessary by these changes. The Estimates for the Seychelles of 1960 were presented in sections each of which covered the Departments for which an official member of Executive Council was administratively responsible. This no doubt explains the description to which the hon. Member refers.
