asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he will consider introducing legislation to prevent private individuals keeping wild animals in captivity unless he is satisfied that adequate safeguards and conditions are provided.

My right hon. Friend has no reason to think that escapes of dangerous wild animals are so numerous as to create a need for legislation.
