§ 9. Mr. Spriggsasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer how many representations he has now received, and from whom, concerning the payroll tax; and what replies he has sent.
§ Mr. BarberMy right hon. and learned Friend has received 68 representations direct, apart from those sent to and forwarded by Members of Parliament. More than half of these were from representative organisations and individual concerns in industry and trade; the rest came in small numbers from trade unions, charitable and other non-profit-making organisations, local authorities and private individuals. The replies sent were to the effect that my right hon. and learned Friend had noted the representations and would bear them in mind.
