§ Mr. Boydenasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government and Minister for Welsh Affairs what would be the cost to his Department of that part of the Burnham Committee's recommendation which relates to an increase in the London allowance; what consequential grant would be payable to the London authorities; and what consequential grant would be paid to local authorities who would not pay this allowance.
§ Mr. BrookeThere would be a consequential increase in rate-deficiency grant to any local authority which paid the increased allowance and was eligible120W for the grant. The amount and distribution of any increase in the aggregate of the general grants under Section 2 (4) of the Local Government Act, 1958, would only be determined after consultation with the local authority associations. Any additional general grant paid to an individual authority could not be identified with a particular item of expenditure,
