asked Her Majesty's Government:

  1. (1) Whether all claims for compensation in respect of damage to sequestrated property under Article IV 384 of the Anglo-Egyptian Financial Agreement have now been received by the Foreign Compensation Commission;
  2. (2) If not, whether they can give any estimate of the probable total value of such claims;
  3. (3) What was the total value of such claims received by the Foreign Compensation Commission up to June 8, 1961;
  4. (4) What was the total value of interim payments in respect of such claims made by the Commission up to June 8, 1961;
  5. (5) What was the total amount deducted from such payments in respect of ex-gratia loans;
  6. (6) What was the total value of the claims in respect of which these interim payments were made.

  1. (1) No. Many further claims are still expected. Provision for a time limit for submission of completed claims by applicants is under consideration;
  2. (2) No;
  3. (3) 923 completed claims have been received amounting to £3,306,654;
  4. (4) The amount before deduction of ex-gratia loans was £404,098 6s.; after deduction of ex-gratia loans £316,329;
  5. (5) £87,769 6s.;
  6. (6) £629,448 in respect of 383 claims.

All the above figures relate to claims under Part IV of the Foreign Compensation (Egypt) (Determination and Registration of Claims) Order, 1959.
