Mr. K. Lewis

asked the Minister of Health how many personal secretaries, typists and machine operators were employed in his Department in May, 1959; and how many were employed in May, 1961.

Miss Pitt

On the 1st May, 1959, there were (a) 104 personal secretaries, (b) 219 typists, including shorthand typists and (c) 13 machine operators employed in the Ministry of Health.

The comparable figures for 1st May, 1961, are (a) 125, (b) 248 and (c) 18.
