§ Mr. Denzil FreethThe Department of Scientific and Industrial Research has given help and advice in the formation of the Civil Engineering Research Council and the Secretary of the Department is a member of the Council. No application for grant aid has yet been received from the Council, but the Department itself is already making 19 scientific research grants totalling £61,000 to 11 different universities and colleges for civil engineering research.
