§ 75. Sir T. Mooreasked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he will introduce legislation so to amend the Homicide Act, 1957, as to give the courts power to inflict the death penalty for murder by rape in Scotland.

§ Mr. MaclayHer Majesty's Government have, of course, been watching carefully the working of the Homicide Act which became law in 1957. They will continue to keep the situation under close review but are not yet convinced that the case for amending legislation has been made.
