HC Deb 30 January 1961 vol 633 cc84-5W
99. Mr. G. Thomas

asked the Minister of Health whether he is aware that retirement pensioners who by working during retirement have earned additional increments on their pension have all the additional allowance taken from them when they are resident in old people's homes in certain parts of the country; and whether he will allow people in these circumstances to retain at least a portion of the increment earned by their longer working life.

Miss Pitt:

Where a resident in Part III accommodation cannot meet the standard charge the local welfare authority assesses his ability to pay, but allows a prescribed sum for his personal requirements. These are not dependent upon his resources.
