HC Deb 20 February 1961 vol 635 cc14-5W
Mr. G. Thomas

asked the Minister of Health what extra staff have been especially recruited at Glanely Hospital, Cardiff, to cope with the extra work involved in caring for geriatric cases; and whether he will make a statement.

Miss Pitt

None yet, but no difficulty is expected in recruiting the additional junior nursing staff which will be necessary.

Mr. G. Thomas

asked the Minister of Health whether he is aware of the need for extensive alterations and improvements in Glanely Hospital, Cardiff, before tie allocation of a further twenty-eight beds for geriatric cases; and whether he will call for a special report on alterations necessary to the hospital's bathing and toilet facilities in particular.

Miss Pitt

The scheme for the additional geriatric ward of twenty-eight beds will provide adequate accommodation for patients, including bathing and toilet facilities. Improvements in other wards already in use for geriatric patients are under consideration
