53. Mr. Speir

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he is aware that the Working Party on Hackney Carriage Law in its Report published in 1951 stated that a revision of the hackney carriage law was long overdue; and what action he proposes to take.

Mr. Vosper:

For the reasons given in answer to a Question on 1st March, 1956, this Report did not provide a basis for legislation. My right hon. Friend has no immediate proposals for legislation, but he is watching the position carefully.
