§ Mr. Teelingasked the Secretary of State for Air whether he is now in a position to make a further statement to that made by the Prime Minister on 13th March, 1958, concerning the use of Royal Air Force helicopters for civil rescue service off the coast of Sussex.
§ Mr. W. J. Taylor:We hope to be able to re-establish a helicopter unit at Thorney Island during the summer. Its main purpose will be the rescue of aircrew but it will be available to help the civil rescue organisations. I cannot, however, say whether we shall require helicopters at Thorney Island permanently.
