HC Deb 14 February 1961 vol 634 c135W
Sir O. Prior-Palmer

asked the Minister of Transport whether he is aware that the work being done on the electrically-operated level crossing gates on the South Farm Road, Worthing, has been suspended before completion with consequent inconvenience to the travelling public in this area; and if he will refer this matter to the appropriate Transport Users' Consultative Committee for their consideration.

Mr. Marples:

The work in question is the substitution of electrically-operated lifting barriers for gates. From the inquiries I have made I understand that work on these barriers should be resumed shortly and will then take about two weeks to complete. I do not consider that reference to the Transport Users' Consultative Committee would be appropriate in this case.
