HC Deb 18 December 1961 vol 651 c111W
68. Mrs. Hart

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will assist horticulturists to meet the financial difficulties confronting them as a result of the National Coal Board's proposal to increase coal prices in some areas.

Mr. Vane

No. It is not the Government's policy to give direct financial assistance to horticulturists to meet changes in costs. Substantial economies in fuel costs can often be made by improving the heating systems of glasshouses. Grants are available for such work under the Horticulture Improvement Scheme.
