Colonel Sir T. Beamish

asked the Postmaster-General what guidance he is now giving to local authorities regarding the licensing of new relay undertakings, pending the Report of the Pilkington Committee and the possibility of changes in the basic structure of the broadcasting services.

I am responsible for licensing relay undertakings. I am continuing to licence in the usual way any applicant whose equipment satisfies the technical conditions, and who has obtained the necessary wayleave consents from the local authority.
