HC Deb 26 April 1961 vol 639 c51W
Mr. Biggs-Davison

asked the Secretary of State for Air why British aircraft have been, are being, and are to be used to fly United Nations Forces to Katanga; and at what cost to public funds.

Mr. Amery

United Nations forces have been flown to Katanga on two occasions. On 1st April about 80 Malayan troops were flown from Malaya. Between 17th and 20th April about 1,000 Indian troops were flown from Dar-es-Salaam. These flights were undertaken at the request of the United Nations who are bearing the cost.
