HC Deb 18 April 1961 vol 638 cc89-90W
Mr. Dempsey

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if, in view of the decisions which have now been made by the appropriate local authority, he will now authorise the replacement of the 300-year-old Cairnhill House, Airdrie, which is being used as a home for blind persons.

Mr. Maclay

My information is that the joint committee of the 23 local authorities responsible for Cairnhill House have decided not to replace the Home after they cease to use it. They intend, I understand, in the course of the next two or three years to find accommodation for the residents in Homes for the aged and infirm in the areas of the several authorities.
