87. Earl of Dalkeithasked the Lord Privy Seal if he will take further action to minimise the risk of war, until such time as multilateral disarmament is accomplished, by working within the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation for the establishment by member-countries of a number of Polaris submarine bases, in addition to those at present in Holy Loch and the United States of America, so as to decrease the vulnerability of the Western deterrent and so increase its power to deter.
§ Mr. HeathHer Majesty's Government naturally welcome any suggestion designed to strengthen the Western deterrent and the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation alliance. I shall certainly bear in mind what my hon. Friend has said.
