HC Deb 22 November 1960 vol 630 cc101-2W
Captain Orr

asked the Prime Minister which Minister is responsible for the ordering of nuclear reactors of thermal output under 100 kilowatts for use for research and education.

Mr. R. A. Butler

I have been asked to reply.

No single Minister is charged with this responsibility. My noble Friend, the Minister for Science, has a general responsibility for the expenditure of the Atomic Energy Authority and the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research in connection with reactors for research and education. Other Ministers, for example the Service Ministers, would be responsible if such research reactors were ordered by their Departments.
