60. Mr. Henderson

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what steps he is proposing to take to restrict the possession of firearms, in view of the increasing number of armed robberies.

No national figures for robberies with firearms are available. Under the existing law no person may possess a firearm, other than a shotgun or air weapon, without holding a firearm certificate issued by the police. This control is very strictly applied, and my right hon. Friend is watching the situation.
