Mr. Spriggsasked the Minister of Labour how many school leavers returned to school in the County Borough of St. Helens after the Easter holidays, 1960; and whether he is now prepared, in view of the changed circumstances, to consider a Ministry of Labour training scheme for young people leaving cshool.
§ Mr. P. ThomasI cannot say how many of the boys and girls who returned to school in St. Helens after the Easter holidays had previously intended to leave school at the end of the Easter term.
As my right hon. Friend announced in the House on 11th April, he is setting up a small number of classes in Government Training Centres to provide first year apprenticeship training.
