HC Deb 09 May 1960 vol 623 cc23-4W
Mr. Owen

asked the Secretary of State for Air if he is aware of the concern of the farming community who hold the farming tenancy for the land on Eshott Airfield, Northumberland; and what proposals he has for the future of this airfield.

Mr. Ward

We may need to use the airfield again for flying training. In that event we should give the farmers as much notice as possible of our inten- tions and disturb the present agricultural use as little as possible.

If we decide not to re-open the airfield after all, we shall dispose of it.
