§ 67. Mr. Rossasked the Minister of Pensions and National Insurance the amount of the Exchequer supplement to the National Insurance Fund in each of the years from 1948.
§ 68. Mr. Willisasked the Minister of Pensions and National Insurance what percentage of the total annual income of the National Insurance Fund was represented by the Exchequer supplement to the fund in each of the years since 1948.
§ Mr. Boyd-CarpenterFollowing is the Answer:
refer the hon. Member to the Report by the Government Actuary on the Financial Provisions of the National Insurance Bill, 1959. For 1961–62 the supplement would represent about 17 per cent. of the total income there stated. I am afraid that precise calculations for the later years are not possible since they would depend inter alia on the extent to which the quinquennial increases in contributions provided for by Section 1 (2) of the National Insurance Act, 1959, are made.

In the case of securities transferred from the former schemes of unemployment insurance, National Health Insurance and contributory pensions the current market value on the date of transfer (5th July, 1948) was taken as cost price.
