HC Deb 11 March 1960 vol 619 c55W
Mr. Russell

asked the Minister of Health if he is aware that an oral vaccine against poliomyelitis has been developed in the Union of South Africa; and what are the prospects of its being available for use in Great Britain.

Mr. Walker-Smith

Yes. Decisions regarding the use in this country of oral poliomyelitis vaccine from any source must await the results of the Medical Research Council's trials to which I referred in my reply to my hon. Friend the Member for Nottingham, South (Mr. W. Clark) on 15th February.
