HC Deb 11 March 1960 vol 619 c60W
Mr. Biggs-Davison

asked the Minister of State for Commonwealth Relations whether he will make a statement about the fourth Commonwealth Broadcasting Conference held in New Delhi, in view of its reference to the Overseas Services of the British Broadcasting Corporation.

Mr. Alport

I am informed that the recent Conference in Delhi was attended by representatives of the national broadcasting organisations of all independent Commonwealth countries—Ghana and Malaya being represented for the first time. It dealt mainly with questions relating to domestic broadcasting services. The Conference also considered various possible forms of co-operation in broadcasting in the Commonwealth sphere. I am sending my hon. Friend a copy of the statement issued by All-India Radio, which was the host and convener. This contains further details of the Conference proceedings.
