Mrs. Butlerasked the Minister of Health the condition as to immunisation of the child who died from diphtheria at Walthamstow recently and of the other four children who contracted the disease; and how long the immunisation had been performed in each case before the attack of diphtheria.
§ Miss PittThe child who died had not been immunised. Five other children have contracted diphtheria in Walthamstow this year. Three of these had not been immunised; one was immunised in 1952; one was immunised in 1954, and given a re-inforcing dose of diphtheria prophylactic in 1959.
