HC Deb 27 June 1960 vol 625 cc89-90W
Mr. Willey

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food whether he will make a further statement on the Report of the Committee on Transactions in Seeds.

Mr. Hare

Proposals for revised Seeds Regulations arising from the recommendations of the Committee on Transactions in Seeds in its first Report dealing with the Seeds Act are now being discussed with interested organisations. As I have already stated, the proposals in that Report which call for new legislation on seeds will be considered further in conjunction with the Committee's second Report dealing with the question of plant breeders' rights. I have now received the Committee's Report on this subject and arrangements are being made to publish it before the House rises for the Summer Recess. Meanwhile my colleagues and I would like to thank the members of the Committee most warmly for their long and arduous work in connection with these two Reports.
