§ 63. Mr. Teelingasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether, in any discussions with the Cuban Government on reprisals for confiscation of British property in that country, he will also take into consideration the sum of money being claimed from the Cuban authorities as compensation for the shooting in the back some years ago of Mr. Topham of Brighton.
§ Mr. R. AllanI do not think that Mr. Topham's interests would be served by the action suggested though we will, of course, continue to attempt to obtain full compensation for him. Her Majesty's Ambassador raised the matter on 28th June in his farewell interview with the Cuban President who asked that a full report should be sent to him personally. This is now being done.
