Mr. Boyden

asked the Minister of Health what was the expenditure on land for hospital purposes, and what was the amount of land acquired, in 1951, 1954 and 1959, respectively.

Expenditure on the purchase of land and buildings acquired in England and Wales for hospital purposes was as shown below:

  • Year ended 31st March, 1951—£2,494,000.
  • Year ended 31st March, 1954—£1,330,000.
  • Year ended 31st March, 1959—£553,000.

I regret that information about the area of land acquired is not readily available.
