Robertsonasked the Secretary of State for Scotland how much has been offered in marginal agriculture production grants to farmers in Caithness for 1959–60; how this compares with the total sums paid in the previous two years; and how many applications for grant have been rejected for land which is indisputably marginal.
§ Mr. MaclayGrants totalling £60,000 are to be offered in Caithness for the 1960 cropping season compared with £89,000 for 1958 and £69,500 for 1959. No indisputably marginal farms have been refused grant.
