§ Mr. Callaghan
asked the Minister of Pensions and National Insurance if he will give an estimate of the number of employees included in superannuation schemes other than National Insurance, including those in the public services, in 1946 and at the latest convenient date.
§ Mr. Boyd-Carpenter
I regret that figures for 1946 are not available. In 1958, which is the latest date for which figures are available, the total number80W of employees in such schemes was 8¾ millions, of which some 3¾ millions were in the public services and nationalised industries.
